Engagement Training
Mr. Gunderson recently attended a symposium entitled ‘Exceptional Boards: Strengthening the Governance Team.’ This was a program sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), held on May 16-17, 2019, at the La Costa Resort and Spa, located in Carlsbad, CA.
Bob attended, as part of his duties of serving on the executive committee of the Board of Directors of the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB), and as leadership training for small-and-large group engagement within an organizational structure.
Selected topics included assumption theory, types of operating modes, hierarchy of decision making, what makes a good organization “good”, functional/dysfunctional relationships, effective leadership strategies, and future trends and challenges.
One takeaway from this two-day training program was that time is our most important generative asset, as an individual and an organization. Understanding time management, at all levels, is crucial to the continuity, sustainability, and resiliency of any organization.
