2020 Professional Practice Course Presentation
On February 20, 2020 ― at the invitation of Adjunct Professor Cliff Swenson ― Mr. Gunderson gave a 2-hour presentation on professional licensing for the Professional Practice course, in the Dept. of Landscape Architecture, at the University of Minnesota. His presentation covered an introduction to the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID), and the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB).
After the main session, he initiated a discussion on the ‘Future of Licensing’, which included the topics of licensure vs. certification, occupational vs. professional licensing, the various aspects of non-licensure, and how the lay person views licensing ― as a social contract ― between the public and professional.
A question and answer dialogue followed both sessions.
